Richmond Academy of Ballet is a busy place over the summer.
We have Day Camps, Evening Classes,
and Summer Intensives for ages 3 and up.
Story Book Ballet Camp (3-5 years old) Mon-Fri 9:00am-12:00pm
In addition to these camps, we also have 6 weeks of evening classes available from June 8 - July 16
Our Story Book Ballet Camp captures the imagination of our little ones with magic and fairytales. It funnels their natural enthusiasm into creative exercises that teach more than just dancing. While the children’s bodies practice balance, strength and coordination, their minds work on creativity, musical awareness, and memory.
In addition to dancing, children will learn ballet stories and participate in dance-centric crafts. The children will prepare a short performance for all of their families to enjoy at the end of the week at 12:00

Ballet Arts Camp (6-10 years old) Mon-Fri 9am - 2pm

This camp is a great way for children to try a broad variety of classes. Students learn different ways to express themselves and about how movement can convey many different messages. This camp includes ballet, contemporary, acting, dance related games, and arts & crafts.
There is a break for lunch, and the day finishes with rehearsal for a short performance that will be held for all of the families at the end of the week at 1:45pm.

Intro to Ballet Intensives (Ballet 1 & Ballet 2) Mon- Fri 9am - 2pm

Ballet 1 and Ballet 2 have earned their own Ballet Intensive! They have worked hard, and it’s time for them to get a feel for what our older students do at RAB.
Your child will elevate his/her dance skills with a week packed full of Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Acting & Pantomime, Stretch Classes, and games blended with engaging and dance-centered Arts & Crafts. We will focus on more precise technique, and building strength and endurance all while increasing their love of all things Ballet! There is a break for lunch, and the day finishes with rehearsal for their performance that will be held on Friday at 1:45pm.

Junior Ballet Intensive (9-12 years old) Mon-Fri 9am - 2pm

Our Junior Ballet Intensive is for Ballet 3 level dancers who want a taste of what it’s like to be a professional. The main curriculum includes ballet technique, and variations, contemporary and choreographic skills. Students will be exposed to other forms of dance, classes in acting and/or pantomime, dance history, and choreographic composition. Their day finishes with a rehearsal and/or deep stretch class.
This is a one week camp where students will work alongside the upper level dancers to perform selections from both a ballet and a new contemporary work on their last day

The Pre-professional Ballet Intensive is for experienced dancers who are serious about professional level training. The main curriculum includes ballet technique, pre-pointe, variations, contemporary, and choreographic skills.
Students will also be exposed to other forms of dance, classes in acting, dance history, and choreographic composition. Their day finishes with a rehearsal and/or a deep stretch.
Students will perform in selections from a ballet and a new contemporary work on the last day.
$450 per week/ $500 per week after April 15

Contemporary Intensive (Ballet 5, Ballet 6, Ballet 7, Ballet Pro) Mon-Fri 9am - 3pm

Immerse yourself in a transformative week of contemporary dance alongside our esteemed contemporary director, Alyssa Fujimoto.
Embark on a journey of comprehensive exploration into contemporary dance during our week-long intensive. With technician training and creative expansion being the focus, participants will additionally delve into improvisation and composition exercises designed to ignite artistic expression. Our curriculum also includes dance history classes that traverse the evolution of contemporary dance, spotlighting pivotal companies and choreographers from past to present.
We cap off the week with an intimate showcase on Friday at 2:30, where parents are invited to witness their child’s newfound skills and repertoire in an informal setting. Join us and embark on a journey of self-discovery and artistic fulfillment!
